Peace of mind

Customers regularly tell us that quality of product is most important, followed by price and then delivery and service. 

But what about peace of mind? 

After all, the food you serve is your legal responsibility - shouldn't peace of mind for you and your customers be a major consideration?

M&J Seafood have spent the past few years (and over £100,000) ensuring all our local branches far exceed the standards expected of any supplier, allowing us to offer all our customers peace of mind (free of charge!)

M&J's higher standards are demonstrated by the ‘BRC' certification at all our local branches...

  • "What is BRC?"  The British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard is a comprehensive certification covering all areas of product safety, legality and quality, and is recognised in the UK and Europe as the benchmark for food standards.  All M&J local branches are BRC certified.
  • "Why have it?"  M&J Seafood are committed to giving you total confidence in our products and services.  We believe all suppliers should meet these standards.
  • "How does BRC help me?"  It gives you total peace of mind that you and your customers are being protected.  For example, our BRC standards mean we can trace each and every sale of all high risk fresh products (ie: Mussels, Oysters, Tuna) throughout the supply chain back to where it was caught, demonstrating that it was temperature controlled all the way to your kitchen.

More reasons to give you peace of mind:

  • All M&J staff handling any product have to pass ‘Basic Food Hygiene' with many passing Intermediate Level.
  • M&J only source from approved suppliers.
  • M&J have strict temperature controls - from goods-in, to the fresh rooms, coldstores and the delivery vans.
  • Our fishmongers undergo Fish Quality Training to ensure we accurately grade the
    quality of all our fresh fish from 1-10.  We reject any fish below grade 7, whether it's coming in or going out.
  • We date-code all incoming fresh fish boxes to ensure stock is rotated.
  • All M&J Fishmongers have clean laundered workwear daily.
  • Our drivers wash their vans inside and out daily.
